Museum für Gestaltung in the Toni-Areal
The new location in the Toni-Areal, presents temporary exhibitions and brings together its four collections – Design, Graphics, Applied Art and Poster – with their 500'000 objects. For the first time the Museum für Gestaltung presents its collections to the public in the Schaudepot. Daily tours offer insights into this collection of international importance.

An Archive of international Importance
In the Schaudepot the objects archived since 1875 are kept under ideal conservational conditions and equipped with sufficient room to meet future demands. The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich in this way consolidates its position as a national centre of competence for graphics and design with an international reputation. As part of Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) the Museum is actively involved in education, teaching and research in the areas of design and visual communication. Together with the media and information centre of the ZHdK they form a visual archive of design history that is of global importance (see online platform

At the cutting edge on the Toni-Areal
That all the different areas of this collected knowledge have now been brought together in the new location on the Toni Areal is a stroke of good fortune for Zurich and for Switzerland as a country of design. More than 5000 students, lecturers, researchers and other staff study and work on the Toni-Areal. The shared campus will introduce a number of advantages for the general public, the Museum and for students and researchers and will encourage exchange between them.
