Workshop: What is Normal?
For the 4th – 10th school year, secondary and vocational schools

Unusual things can be exciting and yet also irritating. Do normal things have the same power to move us? The term “normal” is based on the observation of norms and standards. They establish criteria for social coexistence and provide guidelines for furniture, objects and our built environment. But who defines what is normal? And what is the opposite of normal?  We use the exhibition as a starting point for taking a look at the role that “normal” things play in our everyday lives and at what we actually mean by the term “normal”. As an aid to our investigation, in the workshop we use our collection of hands-on objects.
