Instructions For Doing It Yourself And Being Happy
Workshop for 3th – 10th grades, vocational schools and secondary schools
Although today you can buy almost everything, there is, once again, a trend to make things yourself. Books, magazines and video channels offer numerous sets of instructions on building furniture, sewing or folding. The exhibition “Do It Yourself Design” in the Museum für Gestaltung Schaudepot shows how and why designers in particular are investigating the self-build culture. In “doing it yourself” the issue is not just the satisfaction you can gain from making something yourself, but also the chance it offers to create a pleasant domestic environment for little money or to design things that meet your own wishes. Using waste material, in the workshop we design new objects that can enhance your room. Familiarize yourself with the different possibilities and surprise yourself with your (previously) hidden talent for “doing it yourself.”
