Play fascinates young and old alike: children try out their abilities and discover the world by playing. Young video games players sit obsessively at their computers, adults meet for games evenings that can go feverishly on into the night, executives play with rubber balls or Newton pendulums to relieve stress. This exhibition looks at individual, social and design aspects of play, showing the phenomenon as a human need, cultural asset and emotional life focus. Games fans and academics give insights into motivation to play and behaviour while playing. Games designers talk about the process and present their work. The exhibition shows old favourites like Monopoly and Playstation, teddy bears and Bilibo, and then the most recent trends and tendencies as well. An integrated playing field offers all ages a chance to play themselves.
