In the entrance hall of the Toni-Areal a 140 m2 wall is reserved for Museum's presentations.
In the entrance hall of the Toni Areal an imaginary panorama serves as an enticing gateway to the exhibition “Take a Holiday!” Nine apprentices, who are currently completing the much-coveted four-year training as a scenic painter, have accepted the challenge to translate sections of tourism posters from different epochs and by different designers into scenic painting. The apprentices learn how to wield huge theatre brushes on two-meter long handles in order to paint scenes up to 170 m² in area. The aim here is not detailed realism, the great skill lies in creating the required illusion when the work is viewed from a distance. Comparable to the laws of the poster as a medium, this effect reveals its full potential on the north wall of the entrance space.
