THE EXHIBITION PROGRAM
includes whatever is effective as "design". The main thematic areas are design, visual communication and architecture. Between five and seven travelling exhibitions annually as well as smaller presentations and interventions in and around the museum explain the way in which designed objects and images are dealt with, provide information about personalities in the field of design or about those areas of design that shape our everyday lives.

  EVERY PROJECT
that is shown in the large museum hall (1,100m2), in the gallery (300m2) or in the vestibule, makes particular demands on exhibition design. Insightful and varied presentations lend the objects a voice. They are an indication of the reflective and yet enthusiastic way in which the medium "exhibition" is handled.

    THE MUSEUM BELLERIVE
incomparably located on Lake Zurich, is a building with a highly individual character that can be used in many different ways. Each year between two and three travelling exhibitions examine the field of tension that lies between art and design, between modern classics and recent tendencies.

RESEARCH AND EDUCATION
complement each other: in the exhibition and publications, in series of lectures and seminars, tours and other events. All these activities appeal to a broad public and the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich attracts over 60,000 visitors annually making it one of the most often-visited museums in Zurich.

    THE PUBLICATIONS
of the Edition Museum für Gestaltung Zürich and the series Poster Collection are published by the Museum itself and are, in part, initiated in partnership with other publishers. Classics of design history, pioneers in the fields of theory and practice, design standards and experiments all form part of the programme.

  COLLECTING AND PRESERVING
form the core of all museum activity. In its visual archives the museum preserves objects of international importance: the design collection, the graphic art collection, the applied arts collection and the poster collection are rich in milestones of technical and aesthetic development since the start of industrialisation.

THE MUSEUM SHOP
offers – in addition to books – posters, postcards and design objects. Classic and contemporary design objects make welcome gifts!
